Northwestern Ontario Palliative Care Booster 2013
Teamwork and good communication are essential to the delivery of quality palliative care in any setting. This workshop will provide practical tips for cross cultural communication, having effective family meetings, building teams in long term care through internal and external linkages, as well as provide an overview of the clinical services available in our region. Additionally, the use of simulation as a tool for interprofessional palliative care education will be highlighted. [Read more] September 4, 2013
 
Booster (Special Event): High Fidelity Simulation Workshop
This 2.5 hour workshop will run in conjunction with the Northwestern Ontario Palliative Care Booster 2013. It will provide participants with the opportunity for experiential learning using high fidelity simulation (HSF) technology. The workshop will begin with a short orientation to the importance of communication among members of a multidisciplinary (interprofessional) team and a discussion about some of the challenges that care providers often face when working with patients and family in palliative/end-of-life care. The participants will have a simulation experience where they will have the option of participating in and/or observing a HFS experience where a VIP conversation is required! Dr. Larry Librach awarded the Balfour Mount Champion Award
On April 29th at the Hospice Palliative Care Ontario Conference, the Canadian Hospice Palliative Care Association (CHPCA) honored Dr. Larry Librach with the Balfour Mount Champion Award. Normally this honor is awarded at the CHPCA National Conference, however the award presentation was moved to coincide with the hospice palliative care community's tribute luncheon to Dr. Librach.
