2011 Aboriginal Partnership Research Award Winners

 

The Office of Aboriginal Initiatives, with the Aboriginal Management Council and the Office of Research, are pleased to announce the winners of the 2011 Aboriginal Partnership Research Award. Nominated by Dr. Ian Newhouse, Director for the Centre for Education and Research on Aging and Health, the recipients of this year's award are Lakehead University researchers Dr. Mary Lou Kelley and Holly Prince, MSW, and their Aboriginal partners, Marcia Pedri, Director of Health, Dilico Anishinabek Family Care, and Joe Barnes, Executive Director, Kenora Chiefs Advisory. The research project of Dr. Kelley and Holly Prince, Palliative Care in First Nations Communities: A Model to Guide Policy, Program, and Human Resource Capacity Development, has improved the quality of life and end-of-life care for people living in First Nations communities.
