Northwestern Ontario Palliative Care Conference 2018

"Palliative Care for All: Striving for Equity"

October 24th - 26th, 2018

Airlane Hotel & Conference Centre

Thunder Bay

The Centre for Education and Research on Aging & Health (CERAH), Lakehead University, is pleased to be your host for this exciting conference event. The program, focused on 'Palliative Care for All: Striving for Equity’, will feature presentations that explore how, despite our unique and diverse lived realities, an equity-informed approach can help to improve upon access and quality of palliative care for those living in Northwestern Ontario.

Our opening keynote speaker is Dr. Kelli Stajduhar, RN, PhD, Professor, School of Nursing and Institute on Aging and Lifelong Health, University of Victoria, BC.  Dr. Stajduhar will present death as a social justice issue, drawing on her research with people experiencing structural vulnerabilities.

We are excited to be hosting a Personal Support Worker (PSW) Appreciation Dinner as part of the conference this year.  This evening event is to acknowledge and thank PSWs for the vital role they play in providing care for some of the most vulnerable members of our communities.

The conference will also feature a traditional opening and closing ceremony, various organization displays and poster presentations.

We hope you will mark the dates in your calendar and plan to attend this event!

Early Bird Registration will open mid-August
