Celebrating the Quality Palliative Care in Long Term Care Project

Access to quality care for people who are dying in long term care homes is growing in importance for aging individuals, their families and the Canadian health care system. Despite this new reality, research has been lacking to support long term care homes in the development of palliative care programs that assist residents, staff and families at end of life.

On June 4-5th, 2013, the staff of Bethammi Nursing Home and Hogarth Riverview Manor, St. Joseph’s Care Group (SJCG) and the Quality Palliative Care in Long Term Care Alliance (QPC-LTC) celebrated the success of their five year joint research project focused on enhancing palliative care delivery within their home.
