Palliative Care is Public Health: Principles to Practice



The 5th International Public Health and Palliative Care Conference is now accepting abstracts for workshops, oral presentations, and posters for its 2017 Conference. 

The Conference will be held fromSunday, September 17, 2017 to Wednesday, September 20th, 2017, in beautiful Ottawa, Ontario, Canada.  This conference builds on the international momentum of the first four conferences held in India, Bangladesh, Ireland, and England.  The location of the conference is the Ottawa Conference and Event Centre, 200 Coventry Road, Ottawa, Ontario.  Further information about the conference is available atwww.iphpc2017.com

Abstracts on topics relevant to the five conference themes will be considered.  The 2017 conference themes are:

1. Building public policies that support health (Public Policy)

2. Creating participatory community partnerships

3. Strengthening sustainable community partnerships

4. Evaluation and performance

5. Reorienting/engaging environments to be responsive to death, dying, loss and bereavement

Submission Deadlines:

·         Abstract submission deadline isOctober 24th, 2016.  (Extensions will not be granted for abstracts not received by October 24th)

Scholarship Information:

The International Association for Hospice and Palliative Care (IAHPC) will provide scholarships to support the travel of palliative care workers to attend the 5th International Public Health and Palliative Care Conference. The IAHPC will begin accepting applications soon. For additional information on scholarships please contactgnapier@iahpc.com.

Please be aware, that scholarships will only be given to those who have an accepted abstract.  Don’t miss your opportunity to receive a scholarship, please submit your abstract by the deadline.


The three day conference takes place in Ottawa during the 150th Anniversary of Canada’s confederation, and will feature a number of esteemed international speakers, abstract driven workshops, oral presentations, and posters focusing on the five conference themes.
