ABOUT CERAH
The Centre for Education and Research on Aging & Health is located at the Balmoral Street Centre on the Lakehead University campus in Thunder Bay, Ontario. CERAH is involved in many activities:
- Conduct research consistent with the mission
- Coordinate local, regional, provincial and national projects
- Develop multi-sectoral partnerships and project teams
- Conduct program/project evaluation studies
- Act as a resource centre
- Coordinate lectures, workshops and exhibits
- Offer continuing education sessions for professional and lay groups
- Organize conferences, forums and symposiums
- Develop educational materials such as manuals, videos and specialized curriculum
- Publish articles, reports and newsletters
- Disseminate information and materials
- Provide consultation to community, organizations and government
- Collaborate and network with community-based organizations
- Network with other Centres on Aging in Canada
CERAH’s goal is to undertake and facilitate research and knowledge exchange activities in the area of aging and health. The research at CERAH is complemented by the development and delivery of continuing education for health care professionals and ongoing knowledge transfer through workshops, lectures, and conferences. The areas of research and education are considered of equal importance at CERAH and synergistic for developing and maintaining community partnerships and securing funding for the work of the centre. While education and research are often provincial and national in scope, all CERAH activities are designed to directly benefit the people living and working in Northwestern Ontario.
